MAY, 20259TOP STORIESTATA AUTOCOMP, KATCON JV TO MAKE ADVANCED COMPOSITES FOR NORTH AMERICAAutomotive parts manufacturer Tata AutoComp Systems announced that it has established a strategic joint venture with Mexico-based Katcon Global to produce advanced composites for the North American market.Tata AutoComp announced that the joint venture will focus on lightweight solutions for passenger and commercial vehicles, agricultural tractors, off-road vehicles, and specific non-automotive sectors.Katcon Global, a worldwide provider for the automotive sector, focuses on exhaust systems, thermal insulation, and components made from advanced materials. The organization functions with 11 production sites and five research centers located in eight different nations.The two firms have collaborated for over ten years on exhaust systems and emissions after-treatment solutions. In the partnership, Tata AutoComp stated that it provides technological leadership and customer connections, whereas Katcon offers operational excellence, regulatory knowledge, and robust local execution abilities.The newest partnership marks an important advancement in line with the strategic objectives of both companies to broaden their international presence and cater to global clients with innovative, sustainable materials."It is the first time we are entering a partnership where we are contributing the core technology, what we see as a reverse model compared to our previous alliances. IMR BEML PLANS ROLLING STOCK UNITS IN MADHYA PRADESH & CHHATTISGARHIn a significant move for India's manufacturing and infrastructure industries, the Government of Madhya Pradesh has approved the transfer of 60.063 hectares (approximately 148 acres) of land to BEML Limited, in Umeria, Raisen district, as a contribution towards advanced facilities for the manufacture of Rolling Stock and Metro Coaches.This is a key development in supporting the Central Government's Make in India initiative and advancing domestic production in the rail and urban transportation development sectors. The land transfer, and proposed facility will enable BEML to capture demand for more modern metro and railway coaches and produce necessary projects that will support national transport infrastructure.The new unit will not only provide BEML with an additional manufacturing footprint but, the new unit will also provide support for metro projects in additional states across the country as governments grow more focused on how to meet sustainable urban mobility strategies.In a separate announcement on May 9, BEML secured 100 acres of land in Janjgir-Champa, Chhattisgarh for Re 1 per acre, as the site for a new Heavy Earth Moving Equipment manufacturing facility. This development was announced in filings to the NSE and BSE. BEML Limited, operating under the Ministry of Defence, is a leading company in the defence & aerospace, rail & metro, and mining & construction sectors and has successfully supplied metro systems in multiple major Indian cities.
