8INDIAREVIEWNOVEMBER, 2025CTRLS, NTPC GREEN PARTNER FOR 2GW RENEWABLE PROJECTSRecently, CtrlS Datacenters announced that it has en-tered into a strategic memorandum of understand-ing (MoU) with NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) to jointly develop grid-connected renewable energy projects with a combined capacity of up to 2 gigawatts (GW) or more.This was signed by CtrlS Founder & CEO Sridhar Pinnapureddy and NGEL CEO Sarit Maheshwari. CtrlS Datacenters has partnered with NTPC Green to advance renewable energy initiatives, focusing on data center sustainability through green power, solar projects, and wind energy, contributing to India's energy transition.In a statement, the company stated, "As part of the MoU, CtrlS and NGEL aim to jointly establish grid-connected renewable energy projects/assets with a capacity of up to 2 GW or more through greenfield development and/or acquisitions, for the supply of renewable power to CtrlS for its captive consumption on mutual agreement or any other business as may be mutually decided between the Parties. The MoU shall be in force for two years with a provision to extend further".NGEL, which is a subsidiary of NTPC Ltd, currently has 8.9 GW of renewable energy capacity in operation with a further 3 GW under implementation while planning to reach 60 GW by 2032.Pinnapureddy referred to the cooperation as a significant milestone in developing a sustainable digital ecosystem.He added, "Partnering with NGEL enables us to power our datacenters with renewable energy, enhance efficiency, and advance our commitment to net-zero operations. Together, we're demonstrating that innovation and sustainability can - and must - go hand in hand in driving the next era of digital infrastructure".Based in Hyderabad and founded in 2007, CtrlS operates 16 datacenters in 9 key markets in India and is zeroing in on bringing renewable power into its operations. CtrlS is also considering opportunities to expand globally, particularly in the Middle East and Southeast Asia as part of a sustainability and growth strategy, the company said. At the CII Partnership Summit, Andhra Pradesh is set to sign MoUs that will drive 9.8 lakh crore in investments, fostering job creation and industrial growth to boost the Andhra Pradesh economy.Minister for ITEC & HRD Nara Lokesh indicated that this is a culmination of a three-way partnership among our people, government and corporates with a vision of aligning growth with opportunity.He stated, "Every MoU is a commitment to the dreams of our youth. Choose Andhra Pradesh means choosing speed, trust, and opportunity grounded in Telugu pride and built for global leadership. Companies that choose speed, choose AP".He noted that the summit is a partnership to co-create jobs, infrastructure and innovation. He said that each Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) represents tangible outcomes such as skills, jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities.Lokesh added, "We realised about $120 billion investments so far and given the potential of Andhra Pradesh, it is just a beginning.
