The aerospace business mission was facilitated by the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) in partnership with the Italian Space Agency (ASI), Embassy of Italy in New Delhi, and Consulate General in Bengaluru, and includes a 13-member delegation of aerospace industry leaders from Italy meeting with aerospace industry representatives in India. The purpose of the business mission is to enhance trade, investment and institutional collaboration in satellite manufacturing, downstream applications, launch services and ground infrastructure. Discussions are also anticipated with state governments in India as well as IN-SPACe (Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center) and ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation).The business mission began in Hyderabad with a meeting of Italian representatives with the Telangana Minister of IT and Industries, D. Sridhar Babu, which reiterated the vision of the state to establish an advanced manufacturing and aerospace innovation hub.In Bengaluru, the delegation met with IN-SPACe Chairman Pawan Goenka, ISRO officials, and the Karnataka State Remote Sensing Applications Centre, stating the significance of Karnataka's contributions to India's space ecosystem and startup investments as enhanced by the state's Space Policy for 2024-29.The meeting included Italian Ambassador Antonio Bartoli and Dr. D Gowrisankar from ISRO to reinforce the importance of institutional cooperation. This is taking place at a time when India's space economy, currently worth $8 billion, is expected by IN-SPACe to grow to $44 billion in the next ten years, supported by reforms allowing for private and foreign participation.The mission will conclude in New Delhi with government-to-government discussions and business forums at the Italian Embassy, co-organized with Invest India, the Space Industry Association (SIA), and the Italian Space Agency (ISpA). This demonstrates Italy's strategic interests in India's development in space, which may lead to partnerships and technology transfers.
