Rashtriya Metal Industries: Offering Premium Copper & Copper Alloy Strips & Foils For Diverse Industries, Globally

Balkrishna Binani , Managing Director
The global metals manufacturing market size was valued at USD 12.5 trillion in 2023 and is expected to reach USD 18.7 trillion by 2032, growing at a CAGR of 4.3 percent over the forecast period. The major market drivers in India are huge spending on infrastructure. All infra projects require cables, transformers, switch gears, which require a huge amount of copper, brass and bronze. The copper content in all these products cannot be replaced by any other metal and this will give a major boost to the copper and copper alloy manufacturing companies and industry in the electrical sector.

One such premier manufacturer of specialty cold rolled strips in a wide range of Copper and Copper alloys is Rashtriya Metal Industries. The company manufactures premium and high-performance products, catering to worldwide customers in Automotive, Electrical and Switchgear, Electronics, Communications, Decorative, Power Cable, Ammunition, Coinage, and other engineering applications, including brass cups for the defence sector with a legacy of over 7 decades. RMIL stands tall among India’s elite non-ferrous met¬al powerhouses, renowned for redefining supply excellence and industry benchmarks.

Superior Quality & On-time Delivery, Near-Flawless Customer Satisfaction
Furthermore, RMIL is one of the leading manufacturers of brass, nickel silver, and brass cups for small arms ammunition, globally. The company exports almost 40 to 45 percent of its products to various countries in the USA, Europe, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, South East Asia, and Africa. Driven by a commitment to excellence, the company has earned a stellar reputation for superior quality and punctual delivery, achieving near-flawless customer satisfaction.

Rashtriya Metal Industries specializes in producing customized copper and brass strips tailored to the specific customer requirements, including thickness, width, and hardness. The company places strong emphasis on adhering to the technical requirements of the customers, ensuring that each product aligns perfectly with their unique specifications. RMIL’s comprehensive customer engagement process begins with a detailed feasibility as-sessment conducted by production and quality teams after receipt of an enquiry. After evaluating the technical requirements, a feasibility report is submitted to the customer along with the quotes.

Ensuring Compliance with International Quality Standards
“To ensure our products meet the highest quality standards, we invite our customers to evaluate samples we send based on their specifications. Once these samples are approved, we proceed with bulk production. This process helps us confirm that our understanding of the customer’s requirements perfectly aligns with theirs, reducing the risk of quality issues later,” says Balkrishna Binani, Managing Director, Rashtriya Metal Industries.

Committed to quality, RMIL is an ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001 (energy management), and IATF 16949 (International Certification for the Automobile Sector), ensuring compliance with international quality standards.

Rashtriya Metal offers tin matte, tin bright, copper, and nickel coatings on brass using a reflow process tailored to customer needs. “We are the only strip manufacturer to establish an in-house tinning plant — a significant step given the high demand for tinned brass from the EV sector, much of which is currently imported. Recently, we secured pollution control approval from the Government of Gujarat, and we plan to commence production in August 2025. We have already shared product samples with our customers, which have been very well received,” affirms Balkrishna Binani.

The Journey Ahead
The company recently completed an expansion of its strip production capacity from 18,000 MT to 24,000 MT. In its next phase of growth, RMIL has set ambitious plans to further double this capacity to 48,000 MT. Further-more, the company is evaluating options such as establishing a hot rolling mill to strengthen its manufacturing capabilities. RMIL has also applied for an ammunition license with plans to set up both a cartridge case plant and a bullet manufacturing plant.
