  • Maruti Suzuki adds 30MWp solar power in Haryana, Manesar.
  • Total solar capacity rises from 49MWp to 79MWp.
  • Targeting 319MWp solar capacity by 2030–31.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) is stepping up its solar energy efforts by planning two new projects which will add 30 MWp to what it currently has. A 20MWp solar power plant has been installed at the company’s new facility in Kharkhoda, Haryana, while an extra 10MWp has been added to the Manesar plant.

Because of the new solar facility, the company’s solar power capacity went up from 49MWp last year to 79MWp this year.  These initiatives, according to the business, are part of a plan to change to renewable and clean energy and become less dependent on non-renewable sources.

By 2030–31, MSIL plans to build up its solar capacity to 319MWp with a total investment of more than ₹925 million.  It also aims to get renewable energy to provide 85% of the corporation’s total power by the given date.

Hasiashi Takeuchi pointed out that the growth is in keeping with both India’s plans for more renewable energy and the Suzuki Motor Corporation’s vision for the environment in 2050.  He mentioned that the company will use more renewable energy as it aims to manufacture four million cars every year.

India has become a global pioneer in solar energy, and its potential for renewable energy has grown significantly in recent years.  Solar energy is a major contributor to the nation's goal of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based power by 2030, which is part of its obligations under the Paris Agreement.

Through programs like the National Solar Mission and production-linked incentives, the Indian government has actively encouraged this growth.  Large-scale solar systems, which lower carbon emissions, provide energy security, and promote sustainable economic growth nationwide, have become increasingly prevalent in states like Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Karnataka.
