Honeywell Ties Up With SAF One, Tata for SAF Output
- Honeywell will provide UOP Ecofining technology to SAF One for producing sustainable aviation fuel from waste oils
- Tata Projects has been named EPC partner for delivering the integrated SAF project
- The initiative supports global SAF expansion, including a plant in India, to reduce aviation emissions
Honeywell announced that SAF One Energy Management will use Honeywell UOP Ecofining process technology to produce sustainable aviation fuel which will enable global aerospace companies to increase their SAF production capacity.
The Tata Group has selected Tata Projects as its engineering procurement and construction partner for the project. Honeywell and TPL will work together to deliver an integrated, end-to-end solution customized to meet SAF One’s specific project requirements.
Honeywell UOP Ecofining process technology developed through collaboration with Eni S.p.A. provides an economical solution for transforming waste fats and oils into renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel.
The technology enables the use of feedstocks such as used cooking oil and other waste oils which allow for a circular economy because it reduces fossil fuel dependency.
The collaboration represents a significant milestone in SAF One's strategy to establish multiple SAF production facilities worldwide. The planned unit in India will serve as one of their upcoming production sites.
SAF One intends to use Ecofining technology as a tool which will assist the aviation industry in decreasing its total greenhouse gas emissions while advancing its decarbonization process.
