  • Tata Projects-ASI Global MoU for MRO hangars in India
  • One-stop EPC & design for airlines, defence needs
  • Supports aviation growth, cuts foreign MRO reliance

Tata‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Projects Ltd (TPL) has tied up with Australia's Aircraft Support Industries (ASI Global) by signing a strategically important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly design and build advanced aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facilities throughout India. The partnership combines the TPL's integrated EPC excellence to provide complete solutions to the customers in the energy and infrastructure verticals with the ASI Global's expertise in specialized large-span hangar design and steel fabrication capability to make it simple for airlines, third-party MRO providers, business aviation and defence operators to avail the services in one place.

The partners collaborate to meet the rapid growth of the Indian aviation sector, where the size of the fleet is forecasted to double by 2030, thus creating an urgent MRO infrastructure need that is of international standards. As of now, most of the maintenance works are done in foreign countries, which leads to high costs and delays.

This partnership is set to re-skill the local workforce, reduce turnaround times and improve operational reliability while at the same time supporting India's drive towards self-reliance in the aviation field. Vinayak Pai, Managing Director & CEO of Tata Projects described the association as "a major move in the direction of delivering world-class MRO facilities for India’s fast-growing aviation sector."

Mark Langbein of ASI Global spoke about the combined strengths in engineering and fabrication, hence offering the clients "a compelling, seamless solution" that is supported by TPL's in-house steel production. The two will also design the infrastructure that supports the facility apart from the hangars, thus giving them the edge as the most suitable partner for turnkey fully functional facilities. The MoU will enable the partners to expedite the quality of work, create skilled employment opportunities and set new standards in the innovative development of aviation ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌infrastructure.
