  • Punjab has attracted a ₹1,003.57 crore investment for a special steel plant in Ludhiana
  • The unit will have a capacity of 5.40 lakh MTPA with advanced steelmaking technology
  • The project will strengthen Punjab’s steel ecosystem and Ludhiana’s industrial role

The industrial sector in Punjab received a substantial enhancement through a greenfield investment from AISRM Multimetals Private Limited which amounted to ₹1,003.57 crore and their intention to build a modern special steel production facility in Village Jaspallon which sits along the Doraha–Khanna Road in Ludhiana district according to official statements.

The project demonstrates increasing investor trust in the state manufacturing system combined with its North India geographic advantages. The facility occupies 46 acres of land and its construction will proceed through three distinct development phases.

The first phase is scheduled to commence operations by September 2027. The plant will reach complete functioning status when it achieves a production capacity of 5.40 lakh metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) of output.

The facility will produce special steel products through the creation of round bars wire rods coils and flats which will use scrap and ferro alloys as their primary raw materials. The unit operates three work shifts which provide 350 operational days throughout the year to achieve maximum production and operational efficiency.

Punjab Industries, Commerce, Investment Promotion and Power Minister Sanjeev Arora announced that the new steel plant will use modern steel manufacturing techniques which include induction furnaces and electric arc furnaces and vacuum degassing systems and continuous casting machines.

The technologies will allow production of high-quality alloy and special steels which fulfill strict industrial requirements.

The investment will provide major benefits to Punjab's alloy and special steel industry which will directly support downstream manufacturing operations especially in the automotive and vehicle parts manufacturing sectors. The project will create jobs which will establish Ludhiana as a key industrial center in North India.
