The Malaysian renewable energy solutions company Gentari has declared that Amplus Solar, its commercial and industrial (C&I) division, would now be a part of the Gentari brand.

As it seeks to expand its clean energy services across both distributed and utility-scale segments, the deal represents a substantial consolidation of Gentari's renewable energy business in India, bringing its operations under a single brand. It also coincides with a change in leadership, since Amplus CEO Sharad Pungalia has recently stepped in as Gentari's national head in India after Navjit Gill left.

“With over 20 years of experience in India's energy sector, Sharad will now lead Gentari’s overall integrated operations in India, spanning its renewable energy, hydrogen, and green mobility businesses,” a company statement said.

In 2019, Amplus was purchased by Petronas, the state-run energy giant in Malaysia. Amplus has been a part of the Gentari group since 2023. According to Gentari, the most recent action not only demonstrates a consistent corporate identity but also improves team cohesiveness, allowing the organization to provide more scalable and cohesive renewable energy solutions.

“By bringing together our capabilities in C&I and utility-scale renewables under one roof, we are strengthening our foundation to deliver greater value to our customers. Under a united Gentari brand, we intend to take a more unified and impactful approach in accelerating energy transition in India.” Sushil Purohit, CEO of Gentari.
