Andhra Pradesh Plans $50B Push in Electronics Manufacturing

Andhra Pradesh's Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to create an infrastructure and action plan to attract between $50-100 billion in electronic components manufacturing. Further adding that, during the review meeting at Amaravati, he underscored that in order to take advantage of the growing global demand and to make Andhra Pradesh a hub for electronics manufacturing, mass manufacturing must begin.
At the same meeting to discuss the new Electronics Components Manufacturing Policy 4.0, he spoke of how these efforts will contribute to India's self-sufficiency in electronics and the 'Make in India' initiative.

He indicated the need for domestic manufacturing of electronics has become urgent - India imported electronic circuit boards worth $70 billion for instance last year, and he said the new policy must include incentives accompanying production to help ensure a sustainable industrial ecosystem.
Naidu emphasized the advantage of location and available land in Andhra Pradesh compared to landlocked cities like Bengaluru and Chennai. He specifically called attention to Sri City, Orvakal, Kopparthy, and Hindupur which are ideal candidate locations for electronics manufacturing units.
He added that Visakhapatnam, Amaravati, and Tirupati showcase strong potential for IT development. He suggested allocating space for 500 IT companies in the above-mentioned cities, which could have a significant impact on jobs and see Andhra Pradesh as a part of India's digital and electronics ecosystem.
