ASUS, Dixon Partner to Boost Laptop Manufacturing India
Synopsis: ASUS and Dixon Technologies expand their partnership to increase laptop manufacturing in India, supporting local production, supply chain development, and the country's growing role in the global electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
Taiwanese technology company ASUS and Indian electronics manufacturing services provider Dixon Technologies have expanded their partnership to strengthen local laptop manufacturing in India. The collaboration aligns with the government's Make in India initiative and the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for IT hardware, which aims to increase domestic production and reduce dependence on imports. The move is expected to enhance India's position as a global electronics manufacturing hub while supporting the growing demand for locally manufactured computing devices.
Under the expanded partnership, ASUS plans to significantly increase the share of laptops manufactured within India through Dixon's manufacturing facilities. Company executives have indicated that locally produced laptops are expected to account for a substantially larger portion of ASUS's India sales, reflecting the brand's commitment to deeper localization and supply chain development. The companies are also exploring opportunities to increase local sourcing of electronic components and strengthen the domestic manufacturing ecosystem.
Dixon, through its subsidiary Padget Electronics, has emerged as a key manufacturing partner for several global laptop brands, including ASUS. The partnership builds on earlier agreements under which Dixon began producing ASUS notebooks in India. Manufacturing operations are being supported by the company's expanding facilities, including large-scale production units capable of serving both domestic demand and future export opportunities.

The collaboration comes at a time when India's laptop manufacturing sector is witnessing rapid growth, driven by government incentives, increasing consumer demand, and efforts by global technology companies to diversify supply chains. Industry observers note that local manufacturing not only improves supply chain resilience but also creates employment opportunities and encourages the development of component manufacturing capabilities within the country.
ASUS has identified India as one of its most important growth markets and is investing in manufacturing, distribution, and service infrastructure to support long-term expansion. By partnering with Dixon, the company aims to strengthen its market presence while contributing to India's ambitions of becoming a major center for electronics production.
The expanded collaboration is expected to accelerate laptop production, support the growth of India's IT hardware ecosystem, and reinforce the country's role in the global electronics value chain as demand for locally manufactured technology products continues to rise.
