
Foxconn to Invest Rs 15000 Cr in Tamil Nadu Tech, EV

Taiwanese electronics leader Foxconn (Hon Hai Technology Group) is making a massive investment of ₹15,000 crore in different manufacturing initiatives in Tamil Nadu, said State Industries Minister T. R. B. Rajaa.
This major Tamil Nadu investment is to expand EV battery manufacturing and tech units, strengthening its position in the India electronics sector.
Specifics of the projects have not been mentioned, but it is expected the investment will be in EV battery manufacturing and advanced technology manufacturing, creating approximately 14,000 jobs in the state. This move by Foxconn India supports the EV industry and aligns with the Make in India initiative.
A Foxconn team, headed by Robert Wu, the company's India representative and senior global executive, met with Chief Minister M. K. Stalin in Chennai to brief the chief minister on the company's intentions to expand its operations in the state.

At the meeting, the Tamil Nadu government announced the launch of the new “Foxconn Desk,” within its industry facilitation agency, Guidance Tamil Nadu, which is the first time a state government is setting up a single company desk.
Wu commended Tamil Nadu’s proactive industrial policies, talent pool, and significant infrastructure while reinforcing Foxconn’s faith in the state to be a long-term manufacturing location. This investment is seen as the next aspect of the growth of Foxconn in India, according to the state industries department, as they look for value-added manufacturing, R&D and automation-based processes to grow capacity.
Foxconn currently has approximately 41,000 employees in Tamil Nadu where it manufactures Apple iPhones and critical components including enclosures and display modules. The company is also expanding its position in Karnataka and building a new manufacturing complex in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, which indicates a growing commitment to India's electronics ecosystem.
