Hyundai Motor Set to Start Manufacturing at Talegaon Plant by 2025 End

Hyundai Motor India Ltd said on Tuesday that it is set to begin operations at its manufacturing facility in Talegaon, Maharashtra, which was purchased from General Motors, in Q4 of this calendar year.

The company also celebrated its 29th foundation day on Tuesday, marking the sale of a total of 1.27 crore units since its formation on May 6, 1996 and also recently committed INR 1,500 crores for the revamp and modernization of its Chennai manufacturing plant.

"Envisioning India at the heart of global manufacturing and commerce, Hyundai began its journey with the country 29 years ago with a vision of mutual progress," Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) Managing Director Unsoo Kim said.

He further said the company will "continue to drive transformation in products and services, while contributing meaningfully to the society".

HMIL said it is set to begin operations at its new manufacturing plant in Talegaon, Maharashtra, in Q4 of the calendar year 2025.

In 2023, the company signed an asset purchase agreement to acquire, and assume certain identified assets relating to General Motors India Talegaon plant in Maharashtra, which was completed in January last year. The Talegaon plant has existing production capacity of 1.3 lakh units annually.

During the past 29 years of operation in India, HMIL said it has invested USD 6 billion towards increasing operations in country, and has sold over 1.27 crore units, including over 3.7 lakh units exported to more than 150 countries.
