
India, Brazil Deepen Strategic Alliance for Economic Advancement

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has revealed plans to create a "strategic alliance" with India to enhance political, economic, and technological collaboration between the countries.
In a video message shared on X, after Vice President Geraldo Alckmin's recent trip to India, Lula highlighted the need to enhance bilateral relations with New Delhi.
"The visit of Vice President Geraldo Alckmin to India, in preparation for my trip early next year, is very important because India has an exceptional market. We can have a fantastic economic," Lula said.
"So, I think it was an extraordinary job, and the Indians like Brazil, and Brazilians like Indians. Therefore, we will create a strategic alliance with India and develop both Brazilian and Indian economies," he added.
The Brazilian President's comments followed Alckmin's visit to India, which aimed to strengthen the partnership between the two nations and prepare for Lula's state visit to India next year, advancing the roadmap established during the Modi-Lula summit in July.
Lula also mentioned in the post that the Vice President's trip aimed to enhance commercial ties, as many Brazilian firms are eager to enter the Indian market.

He also mentioned that Alckmin came back from India "with a lot of updates" and that he only brings "good news", including the opening of an office of Brazilian aerospace company Embraer, as well as the implementation of an e-visa to facilitate business travel, and the establishment of new partnerships.” he stated.
At the same time, economic collaboration between India and Brazil has been on the rise. During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Brazil in July, both leaders established a goal of increasing bilateral trade to USD 20 billion over the next five years.
In FY 2024-25, trade in goods between the two countries amounted to USD 12.19 billion, establishing Brazil as India's foremost trading partner in Latin America and the Caribbean, as reported by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
