India Post Unveils Rs 5,800 Cr Advanced Postal Tech Rollout

India Post was recently launched APT, the Advanced Postal Technology, a new digital offering aimed at transforming India's postal and logistics services. The Union Minister for Development of the North Eastern Region and Communications, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, unveiled the advanced technology with an investment of Rs 5,800 crore under the IT 2.0 programme.

APT was developed in India and aims to support faster and improved decision making, lower operational overhead with automation, and improved e-commerce. The digital solution also provides user-friendly, mobile-enabled services enabling citizens to access postal and logistics services from anywhere in India.

Scindia pointed to this platform as a major enhancement for creating a self-dependent digital economy, fulfilling in substance, and form the Prime Minister’s Digital India and Make in India agendas, and further emphasized India Posts of being a part to promote innovation, commercialization of local technology development.

"This is Aatmanirbhar Bharat in full strength, charting the path for a stronger, self-reliant Digital India", PM Modi stated on his X.

The announcement comes in the wake of India Post’s Annual Business Meet 2025-26 convened in New Delhi, in which Scindia set additional ambitious targets of 20-30% growth target for the upcoming financial year amongst the circles. The Ministry of Communications emphasis, those targets are in view of larger framework to move India Post into a profit-oriented undertaking, while continuing to do its social outreach work.

APT will strengthen the operational efficiency, digital and e-commerce governance expanding project across the country to achieve some speed to the various access and application of solutions for the citizens making a key milestone on the continuum path of modernizing the organization.
