
Jindal Gets Odisha Nod for Greenfield Project, to Invest Rs 3,600 Cr
- Jindal (India) Ltd received Odisha government approval for a ₹3,600 crore greenfield steel project.
- The plant will produce coated steel products with 9.6 lakh MT annual capacity by 2027.
- Total investment will reach ₹15,000 crore by 2030, including expansion to 30 lakh MT and a 2 lakh MT steel pipe unit.
Jindal (India) Ltd has now received the necessary clearance from the Odisha government for its proposed greenfield project, which includes an initial investment of ₹3,600 crore, as part of a broader plan to invest ₹15,000 crore in Odisha, in three phases, by 2030.
The proposed facility will be a manufacturing unit that supplies, among other products, advanced coated steel products.
The Statement stated, "Jindal (India) Limited gets High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) approval for Rs 3,600 crore steel plant in Odisha".
The project will be executed in phases, with the first phase consisting of essential infrastructure, including a Cold Rolling Mill (CRM), a Continuous Galvanizing Line (CGL), and a Colour Coating Line (CCL) to create high-value steel sheets. The operation will deliver, with full capacity of 9.6 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of production delivered, planned commissioning by 2027.

Jindal (India) Ltd has received in-principle approval from the Odisha Government for its greenfield project to be developed in three phases with a total investment of ₹15,000 crore by 2030. These frames of investment will occur in the next 7 years, starting with an initial investment of ₹3,600 crore in the first rolling phase. The new facility will also produce advanced coated steel products.
In the first phase, the project will encompass major infrastructure development of a Cold Rolling Mill or CRM, Continuous Galvanizing Line or CGL, and Colour Coating Line or CCL to manufacture high-value steel plates or sheets.
"Along with enhancing the company's domestic manufacturing capabilities, the green-field manufacturing plant will reduce reliance on imports and generate employment opportunities in the state. The modern facility will also strengthen Jindal (India) Ltd's footprint in Odisha's growing industrial sector", said the company spokesperson.
In the first phase, the project is expected to have an annual capacity of 9.6 lakh metric tonnes (MT) and to be operationally by 2027.
