Piyush Goyal Calls for Swiss Firms' Expansion in India

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has now invited Swiss enterprises to do further manufacturing in India due to its dynamic, fast-growing market. The Minister met leaders of top Swiss companies representing various sectors in Bern and encouraged them to consider India as a strategic destination for manufacturing, talent, and innovation.

The discussions concentrated on more collaboration between Indian and Swiss enterprises with an accent on innovation, sustainable manufacturing, and technology transfer. Goyal assured the business side of India's transparent regulatory system, strong intellectual property protection, and investor-friendly policies.

He also chair two roundtable sessions with Swiss sectoral leaders in biotech, pharma, health care, defence, precision engineering, and emerging technologies, and thereby supported by the Indian Embassy in Switzerland, the sessions highlighted India’s large-scale capability, cost advantages, and transformation of the innovation ecosystem.

He urged Swiss companies to make use of facilities, link, and support offered by the EFTA Desk at Invest India. Goyal also portrayed India as a willing partner of global business integration ready to pursue regulatory harmonisation and mutual recognition agreement.

Besides that, Goyal also had a meeting with members of the Switzerland Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and complimented them for playing an enabling role in deepening India-Switzerland trade relations.

Swiss business leaders expressed strong confidence in India’s economic trajectory on grounds of its large market availability, skilled workforce, and good business environment. For many, India was considered not just a key market but also a base for R&D, manufacturing, and the world of innovation. Several companies have expressed an interest in forming joint ventures, expanding their presence, and setting up local production.

Swiss industries go on to say that from healthcare and automation to cybersecurity and space technologies, Swiss companies are working next to India not just in development projects but also to have a long-term vision of strategic collaboration and investment.
