
PM Modi Unveils Locomotive Manufacturing Unit in Gujarat's Dahod
- Modi opens Dahod loco plant for 9,000 HP electric engines.
- Unveils ₹24,000 cr projects in rail and infrastructure.
- Flags off two new trains: Vande Bharat and Valsad–Dahod Express.
Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the electric locomotive manufacturing facility at Dahod, Gujarat, on Monday. The Indian Railways facility is intended to manufacture 9,000 HP electric locomotives for both India and export.
The high performance of the locomotives will allow freight to be moved as quick as down the tracks at 120 kmph for freight hauling. The locomotive also has AC, a driver’s toilet, and modern safety systems. The Prime Minister flagged off the first locomotive made at the facility.
The Prime Minister along with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, also laid the foundation stone for multiple development work in Dahod valued at ₹24,000 crore, that included significant rail infrastructure enhancements and initiatives by the Gujarat Government.

The Dahod facility supports PM Modi's goal of modernizing connectivity and infrastructure. The locomotives utilize regenerative braking and are built to save energy while increasing freight capacity.
He launched two types of train service - the Vande Bharat Express - Veraval- Ahmedabad and a new express train from Valsad- Dahod. Previously on a two-day visit to Gujarat from May 26-27, he held a roadshow in Vadodara and expressed his gratitude via social media calling the public reception "a very delightful" one.
PM Modi stated on his X platform, "Thank you, Vadodara! Extremely delighted to be in this great city. It was a splendid roadshow and that too in the morning! Gratitude to all those who showered their blessings".
