PTC's Aerolloy & Safran to Boost India Engine Manufacturing
- Aerolloy and Safran sign an MoU to produce military aircraft engine components in India.
- The deal expands their existing collaboration from commercial to defence aviation.
- It supports India’s goal of reducing reliance on imported defence equipment.
Aerolloy Technologies Ltd., PTC Industries' wholly-owned concern, has inked a memorandum of understanding with Safran Aircraft Engines of France for partnerships in military aviation manufacturing. The focus will be on manufacturing high-performance components and specialized materials for military aircraft engines, an area of great importance to India's defence objectives.
Though previously Aerolloy has provided castings for aerospace use, this agreement presents an opportunity to enter the core defence manufacturing area. The two companies already hold a relationship in commercial aviation engine applications, particularly for the LEAP program. For the first time, this new agreement would take the relationship to a higher, more strategic level.

The time at which the agreement was inked comes right when India is striving to cut down on unfavourable imports of military equipment. This increased collaborative effort will see Aerolloy and Safran attempt to build a localized supply chain supporting critical engine requirements for the air defence of India, given that it shall go quite far toward realising self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
Sachin Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of PTC Industries said, "This partnership is not just about manufacturing parts. It’s about building capabilities that the country can rely on. We see this as a big step forward in supporting the 'Make in India' vision and advancing innovation in aerospace".
