Reliance NU Energies secures 350 MW solar plus storage project from SJVN
Reliance Power announced that its subsidiary Reliance NU Energies has obtained a 350 MW solar project that includes a 175 MW/700 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) from SJVN Ltd. The BESS, combined with the solar project, will offer a backup power source of 175 MWh for duration of four hours.
According to a company statement, the successful tariff was established at Rs 3.33/kWh, secured for 25 years, placing the project among the most competitively priced options in India's energy transition scenario.
Reliance Power Ltd (Reliance Power) subsidiary Reliance NU Energies Private Ltd (Reliance NU Energies) achieves the largest allocation in SJVN's tariff-based competitive bidding, obtaining an allocation of 350 MW of solar power generation capacity along with 175 MW/700 MWh of BESS, as per the statement.
Upon commissioning, the platform will enhance Reliance Power's portfolio by adding 600 MWp of installed solar PV capacity along with 700 MWh of energy storage, reinforcing its dominance in new energy solutions.
With this enhancement, the firm's overall clean energy pipeline currently reaches 2.5 GWp of solar capacity and 2.5 GWh of BESS, positioning it as India's leading participant in the integrated Solar + BESS sector.
This distribution signifies advancement in Reliance Power's strategic shift towards renewable energy sources. The initiative is included in SJVN's broader procurement for 1,200 MW of solar energy along with 600 MW / 2,400 MWh of BESS, linked to the ISTS grid.
