To strengthen India's semiconductor manufacturing capacity in a major way, UST, an international leader in AI and technology transformation, has formed a partnership with Kaynes Semicon, an Indian semiconductor manufacturer of repute. The collaboration will reportedly set up a high-end Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) center at Sanand, Gujarat, with a planned outlay of ₹3,330 crore.

The move is consistent with the 'Make in India' program of India, which is the idea to make India a hub for semiconductor manufacturing globally. The plant, to be realized in the above mentioned sectors, will be dedicated to the development of advanced semiconductor packaging and testing, which will increase the demand for new applications in the electronic, electric vehicle, renewable energy, and consumer technology sectors.

UST's global footprint, knowledge in digital engineering, and AI-driven process optimization will be an excellent complement to the manufacturing expertise of Kaynes Semicon. On their joint mission, they aim to provide scalable, dependable, and cost-effective semiconductor solutions that will, in turn, make India more competitive in the international semiconductor market.

The launch of this OSAT center is anticipated to generate a large number of employment opportunities and incubate innovation in the semiconductor ecosystem of India. Besides this, it signals the growing traction of the Indian tech industry to become self-sufficient in semiconductor manufacturing and lower the reliance on imports.

In the course of the advancement of the project, the consortia between UST and Kaynes Semicon is set to play a major role in the future of semiconductor manufacturing in India, making a great contribution to the country's technological and economic progress.
