AdPower Ltd. (APL), the biggest private sector thermal power producer in India, has announced that it has signed a 25-year Power Supply Agreement (PSA) with Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd. (BSPGCL) for the supply of 2,400 MW of power. The power will be generated from its greenfield ultra-supercritical plant that APL will develop at Pirpainti in the Bhagalpur district of Bihar.
This follows the Letter of Award (LoA) issued by BSPGCL on behalf of North Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd. (NBPDCL) and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd. (SBPDCL) in August. APL secured the project through the most competitive tariff of Rs. 6.075 per KWh, and emerged the lowest bidder.
The company has made an announcement to invest close to USD 3 billion to design, build, finance, own and operate a three unit (800 MW x 3) power plant with associated infrastructure. The coal linkages for the project have been provided under the Government of India's SHAKTI Policy.
