  • Andhra Pradesh attracts ₹5,400 crore solar manufacturing investment
  • 6 GW facility to boost domestic solar supply chain
  • Project expected to create over 2,100 jobs locally

Andhra Pradesh is set to strengthen its position as a renewable energy manufacturing hub with the launch of a ₹5,400 crore solar manufacturing project, marking a significant step in India’s clean energy transition. The project, led by ReNew, will see the establishment of a large-scale solar ingot and wafer manufacturing facility in the Anakapalli district near Visakhapatnam.

The foundation stone for the project is scheduled to be laid by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, signalling strong state support for renewable energy investments. The facility will have a planned capacity of 6 GW, focusing on the production of critical upstream components such as solar ingots and wafers, key inputs in the solar value chain.

This investment comes at a time when India is aggressively pursuing its target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030. By manufacturing essential solar components domestically, the project aims to reduce dependence on imports while strengthening the country’s energy security and supply chain resilience.

The initiative also aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024, which is designed to attract large-scale investments and promote backward integration in renewable energy manufacturing. The policy framework has already begun drawing significant investor interest, positioning the state as a preferred destination for clean energy projects.

Once operational, the facility is expected to be commissioned within approximately two years and generate over 2,100 direct and indirect jobs. Beyond employment generation, the project is part of ReNew’s broader investment commitment of around ₹82,000 crore in the state, reflecting long-term confidence in Andhra Pradesh’s industrial ecosystem.

Overall, the project represents a strategic move to build a robust domestic solar manufacturing base, accelerate industrial growth, and support India’s transition toward a sustainable and self-reliant energy future.
