
Suzlon, GS E&C Team up for India Renewable Projects

Suzlon Energy and GS Engineering & Construction of South Korea have come together through a strategic partnership to implement renewable energy projects in India. The deal, signed at the India-Korea Business Forum, aims at the development of renewable energy projects and the optimization of related solutions.
It combines expertise in wind energy of Suzlon with the engineering and infrastructure capabilities of GS E&C. One major element of the partnership is the development of an integrated renewable energy model probably comprising wind, solar, and energy storage systems.
Such a plan indicates a move towards hybrid clean energy solutions contributing to a better performance and higher reliability of power generation, Besides supporting projects with a combined size of around KRW 80 billion (approx).

The partnership is also expected to generate employment opportunities, estimating about 300 jobs (both direct and indirect), Furthermore, GS E&C will identify opportunities to cooperate in repowering wind farms, which is a method of installing more powerful and efficient turbines in place of older ones.
In the longer run, the collaboration targets to obtain around 1 GW of wind energy projects in India during the next five years, thus demonstrating the extent of ambition and dedication of both firms.
On a strategic level, the agreement is consistent with India's very ambitious targets for the expansion of renewable energies and the switch to cleaner energy sources. Moreover, it mirrors the trend of rising foreign involvement in India's green energy segment, in particular, the South Korean companies that are keen on increasing their presence in the well-growing markets.
In a nutshell, the partnership between Suzlon and GS E&C is a step towards integrated, large-scale renewable energy solutions, where technology, money, and implementation capabilities are merged to quickly turn around India's energy sector.
