Arunachal Approves JV With NHPC, NEEPCO to Raise Hydro Capacity

The Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet has agreed to the establishment of two joint venture companies namely NHPC Arunachal Green Energy Limited and NEEPCO Arunachal Hydro Power Corporation Limited.

The decision signifies a key measure for the state's implementation of renewable energy infrastructure expansion and development. The joint venture is to drive hydro power and renewable energy initiatives. The new energy projects aim for hydropower expansion targeting a 19 GW capacity, strengthening the state’s renewable energy infrastructure.

State government sources state that NHPC Arunachal Green Energy Limited will concentrate on big hydroelectric projects which also include the Kamala (1,720 MW) and Subansiri Upper (1,605 MW) dams.

On the other hand, NEEPCO Arunachal Hydro Power Corporation Limited will look after a number of key projects such as Tato I, Tato II, Heo, Naying, and Hirong. It is anticipated that these measures will have a major positive impact on the Indian Decade of Hydro Power implementation plan (2025–2035) which sets a goal of an addition of 19 GW of hydroelectric capacity and which aims to facilitate investments, job creation and advancement of the nation’s net-zero goals.

Under Chief Minister Pema Khandu's leadership, the Cabinet held its Changlang Cabinet Aapke Dwar conference in Miao, Changlang District, recently. They also addressed the shortage of field officers in the Agriculture Department, which is a crucial issue at the moment.

In the communication, the Cabinet decided to make changes to the APAS Rules, 2005' the Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Service (APAS) Rules, 2005. The new changes will help address the gaps in the workforce, pave the way for a quick, advanced, and smooth up, as well as fix the overall administrative structure of the department and provide for a more effective governance and service delivery to the agricultural sector.
