In a historic move for India's high-tech manufacturing ecosystem, Goa has launched country’s first commercial 3D printing facility. The Advanced Additive Manufacturing Facility was inaugurated by Nirmitsu Design Labs in collaboration with 3D Systems, the world leader in 3D printing. The occasion took place in Old Goa for the initiation of growth in aerospace, defence, and industrial design in addition to tooling.

Speaking at the launch, Minister Khaunte highlighted the facility’s role in propelling Goa to the forefront of Industry 4.0. “This is more than a technology milestone—it is a glimpse into Goa’s future as a hub for advanced innovation. With robust policies in electronics manufacturing and our vision for a knowledge-driven economy, we’re equipping our youth with the skills and opportunities to shape tomorrow,” he said, pointing to the development of the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) in Tuem as a key part of this vision.

Nirmitsu's business model is based on sustainable, on-demand production that diminishes long supply chain mechanisms and enables faster prototyping cycles and innovation in many sectors. Their vision is to provide world-class 3D printing technology solutions while becoming a leader in 3D printing technology on a global level.

This opening not only provides Goa with the incentive to grow as an industrial location, but it can also provide opportunities for start-ups, MSMEs, and academic institutions to initiate high-tech R&D and prototyping processes. The Government of Goa has indicated that this project is another defining step towards establishing a coherent industry-led innovation economy in Goa that balances government and academic desire with technological innovation.

This project supports India's broader goals of self-reliance, digital transformation, and manufacturing competitiveness on a global scale. Goa has set the stage for becoming a national model for high-tech industrial development.
