Godrej Enterprises Boosts Tooling Capacity to Power EV Manufacturing
- Godrej is boosting EV manufacturing with high-precision tooling solutions.
- It invests 2–3% of revenue in R&D and advanced machinery.
- 10–15% of revenue now comes from EV tooling, supporting local and global demand.
With the electric vehicle (EV) market in India booming, Godrej Enterprises Group’s tooling arm is supporting the supply chain for EVs with precision tooling. As the automotive business makes a shift to an electrified future, that includes specialized components like new engines for EVs, battery enclosures, battery housings, and precision sheet metal components, Godrej is expanding its focus to support automakers in developing high-precision dies and tooling systems for EVs.
The company will continue to invest 2-3% of revenue in R&D and modern machinery against developments in the industry. R&D and machinery investment drive innovation, increase production efficiency, and facilitate future opportunities.
The adoption of EVs, with 28% year-on-year sales increase and 1.96 million units sold FY2025, has created a demand for components locally. For example, in the last three years, 10-15% of the division's revenue has been orders for tools specifically for EV projects, exposing the industry's increasing demand for localized, precision-manufactured solutions.

"As EV manufacturers scale up production to meet growing consumer demand, they require tooling partners who understand both the technical complexities and the commercial imperatives of this rapidly evolving sector. India’s EV transition is not just about vehicles, it’s about building a resilient, self-reliant, and globally competitive ecosystem. At Godrej Enterprises Group, we are proud to be enabling this transformation through our precision engineering solutions. These world-class tooling systems help reduce dependence on imports while improving lead times, cost efficiency, and product reliability", said Pankaj Abhyankar, Business Head, Tooling business of Godrej Enterprises Group.
Godrej also aims to localize some of the tooling which is now imported, in support of the 'Make in India' initiative. This will support local manufacturing, reduce imports, and add to India's availability for higher quality tooling exports.
