  • India and Australia to boost cooperation in renewable energy and technology sharing
  • Launch of the India-Australia Green Hydrogen Taskforce report
  • Expanding the Renewable Energy Partnership in solar, storage, and skill development

Pralhad Joshi, the Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, stated that the collaboration between India and Australia on clean energy will be advanced by encouraging speculative manufacturing, sharing technologies, and best practices.

India Australia clean energy and renewable energy cooperation are being strengthened through the India Australia manufacturing partnership and green hydrogen collaboration.

This announcement came after his meeting with Chris Bowen, the Australian Minister for Climate Change and Energy, in New Delhi. Bowen is in India to attend various important meetings, including the inaugural Renewable Energy Partnership Ministers Meeting with India.

These initiatives promote sustainable energy India, enhance Indo-Australian trade ties, drive clean tech innovation, and support the energy transition partnership and green manufacturing.

The minister mentioned on his X platform, "Had a wonderful meeting with the Minister for Climate Change and Energy of Australia, Chris Bowen. He led a delegation of bright minds, and our discussions centred on enhancing our cooperation in clean energy".

Bowen discussed the significance of Australia being a "best-friend" for India during the global energy transition and reiterated Australia's plan to expand this strategic partnership. Joshi stated, "We decided to encourage manufacturing and technology sharing by adopting best practices from each other".

Joshi and Bowen also launched the Indian-Australian Green Hydrogen Taskforce report to support action to further cooperation on emerging renewable technologies. "It provides a solid foundation and clear direction for our collaboration. Looking forward to a strong partnership in shaping a sustainable energy future", the minister added.

Besides, Bowen will have a meeting with the Power Minister Manohar Lal during the 5th India-Australia Energy Dialogue. The partnership between the two countries is becoming stronger and it was already a result of the second India-Australia Annual Summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese in November last year.

The summit highlighted the commitment of the two countries to hasten climate action with the help of the India-Australia Renewable Energy Partnership (REP), which is concerned with solar PV, green hydrogen, energy storage, renewable investments, and skill development for the future clean energy workforce.
