India Backs Gulf stability, Vows Deeper Economic Ties
- India backs Gulf nations amid West Asia disruptions
- Focus on supply chain stability and trade continuity
- Push to deepen India–GCC economic partnership
India has strongly shown its solidarity with the Gulf countries and reiterated that restoring regional peace and increasing economic cooperation are necessary after the tensions in West Asia which have affected trading and supply chains. This initiative was headed by Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal who had online talks with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) leadership, including Secretary General Jasem Mohamed Al Budaiwi.
In these talks, India confirmed its willingness to help the GCC countries- the UAE, Saudi Arabia Qatar Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain- and stressed that joint actions to resolve the issues of supply chain breakdowns, especially of critical items like food, are vital. This is a response to the situation where the conflict in West Asia has changed the logistics and energy supply networks and thus, affected the global trading systems.
India said that it trusts the newly declared ceasefire in the region will be effective and lead to peace and stability in the long run. It was also stated in the talks that the trade between the two sides should remain uninterrupted for the sake of their economic interests.

In parallel, India has intensified diplomatic and economic engagement with individual GCC member states. Goyal also interacted with officials from the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Kuwait, reiterating India’s commitment to ensuring supply chain continuity and supporting exporters during the ongoing crisis. Both sides acknowledged the strain on logistics and emphasised the need for collaborative mechanisms, including alternative transport routes and improved coordination, to sustain trade momentum.
The Gulf region is very important for India's strategic interests. It not only provides a significant percentage of India's energy needs but is also one of India's major trading partners. The fact that the two sides are now discussing an India GCC free trade agreement also shows how much both sides value their economic engagement.
This new India-Gulf interaction is a sign of India's strategy to use its diplomatic relations and economic cooperation to deal with the changing geopolitical scenario. India's solidarity gesture is a clear indication of its support to the gulf countries during their time of turmoil.
At the same time, it aims at strengthening long-term trade relations and economic partnerships. In the face of the ongoing disruptions in global supply chains, it is anticipated that such collaborations will be pivotal in securing resilience and stability in both bilateral and regional trade.
