  • India designated as Suzuki’s global manufacturing hub for the upcoming electric SUV, e-Vitara
  • Suzuki commits ₹70,000 crore investment over the next 5–6 years, highlighting India’s manufacturing quality
  • India positioned as a key player in Suzuki’s global EV strategy, supporting clean mobility and low-emission goals

Suzuki Motor Corporation President Toshihiro Suzuki announced India will be the global manufacturing base for the company’s new electric SUV, the e-Vitara. This move demonstrates the crucial part India will play in Suzuki’s worldwide electric vehicle (EV) plan and is a major local manufacturing victory.

"India has progressed in policy and investment to the point where it stands shoulder to shoulder with the world market. The e Vitara made here will be exported to more than 100 countries — including Japan and nations across Europe. This demonstrates the capability of Indian manufacturing to meet the highest global standards", said Suzuki.

The announcement is really special, particularly when it's considered Japan profusely avoids importing vehicles from outside. The fact that India has been selected as the export base for an electric model, and shipments will be made to Japan, is a strong endorsement of the manufacturing quality in the country. Suzuki have also committed an investment of ₹70,000 crore in India over the next five to six years to underpin their  long-term strategy.

Acceptance from European markets further validates India’s capacity to live up to the rigorous safety, design and sustainability standards that they adhere to. Suzuki is taking advantage of India to facilitate its transition towards clean mobility, which includes ethanol, biofuels, hybrid systems, and full electrification.

He added, "In the next five to six years, India will continue to be at the core of Suzuki’s ambitions to achieve carbon reduction and sustainable growth".

The e-Vitara project does not just make India Suzuki's largest market, but it also makes India Suzuki's global EV manufacturing center and plays a significant role in their low-emission future, further elevating India's standing as a global automotive and green mobility superpower.
