India's Electronics Makers Join C-DAC to Build 'Rudra' Servers
- 'Rudra', developed by C-DAC with VVDN, Avalon, and Kaynes, powers supercomputers and critical sectors
- Fully made in India with Intel Xeon processors and liquid cooling, reducing import reliance and securing data
- Mass production in 2025 boosts jobs, manufacturing, and HPC infrastructure under 'Make in India'
India's electronics manufacturing ecosystem begins a new journey with the launch of its first indigenously developed server, 'Rudra', by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
C-DAC, along with the major manufacturers, VVDN Technologies, Avalon Technologies and Kaynes Technology, will jointly develop ‘Rudra’ servers for advanced server infrastructure to power India's mission-critical digital projects.
Rudra servers will provide high-performance computing (HPC) for the nation's largest supercomputers, such as PARAM Rudra, and will have applications in defense, banking, data centres, and healthcare sectors. This initiative is a major driver of India's National Supercomputing Mission and is focused on reducing import dependency, defending data sovereignty, and enhancing security.

Rudra is built for performance and energy efficiency using Intel Xeon scalable processors and liquid cooling systems. Everything is produced at home, from the architecture design by C-DAC to assembly and validation by ecosystem partners, making sure everything is reliable, scalable, and able to keep sensitive data local.
As of Q3 2025, mass production is underway. Fully integrated units are being delivered from Avalon Technologies' facilities, VVDN is ramping up production within government contracts, and Kaynes Technology is providing HPC for government projects. This partnership is not only improving India’s digital infrastructure but is also creating jobs, strengthening component design skills, and enhancing manufacturing capabilities.
The Rudra initiative is a monumental milestone for the Make in India campaign, bringing the country to the forefront of providing high-performance digital infrastructure and a significant step toward technological self-reliance.
