ISRO to Launch AST SpaceMobile Satellite on December 24
- ISRO’s LVM3 rocket will launch AST SpaceMobile's BlueBird Block-2 satellite on December 24
- The satellite will provide global, high-speed cellular broadband to smartphones
- BlueBird satellites feature 2,400 sq. ft arrays, the largest commercial phased arrays in low Earth orbit
According to official sources, ISRO's LVM3 launch vehicle will launch the AST SpaceMobile communications satellite (called BlueBird Block-2) on December 24th, as part of the LVM3-M6 mission, which is the first in a series of dedicated commercial launches by ISRO for AST SpaceMobile under contract with their affiliate NewSpace India Limited (NSIL).
In a post on X, the ISRO stated, “The launch of LVM3-M6 is scheduled on 24 December 2025 at 08:54 hrs IST from the Second Launch Pad, SDSC SHAR (Satish Dhawan Space Centre), Sriharikota”.

In addition, these new satellites also use the largest phased array antennas ever launched to date, with antennas measuring nearly 2,400 square feet — thus breaking the previous record of 693 square feet established by their original generation of BlueBird satellites.
The launch of this programme is a historic milestone in Commercial Satellite Technology; it is intended to allow for higher bandwidth mobile data accessibility, a continuation of the increasing need for worldwide mobile Data Connectivity as well as high speed Internet access for individuals in remote and underserved areas.
The partnership between AST SpaceMobile and ISRO clearly indicates the increasingly important role that Satellite Communications play in developing a Space-Based Communication Network to support the needs of the modern digital age.
