Modi Urges Jordan Firms to Partner India on Corridor

During​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ his speech at the India-Jordan Business Forum in Amman, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to the Jordanian companies to cooperate with India in creating an economic corridor that will connect South Asia and West Asia. This way, they can take advantage of Jordan's Free Trade Agreements and India's large market and manufacturing strength. Along with King Abdullah II, Modi expressed the idea of doubling the bilateral trade to USD 5 billion within the next five years, thus making both the countries the most reliable global supply chain partners.

Modi put India forward as the fastest-growing major economy that will soon be the third-largest in the world, thereby creating countless opportunities out of its 1.4 billion consumers, strong manufacturing base, and stable, transparent policy environment. Besides, he urged the Jordanian enterprises to enter the sectors like Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), IT, Fintech, Health-tech, and Agri-tech and consequently facilitated the startups of both the countries for joint ventures.

Modi was particular to point out that the pharmaceutical and medical devices strengths of India could help make Jordan an indispensable hub for West Asia and Africa. A variety of opportunities in agriculture, cold chain logistics, food parks, fertilizers, infrastructure, automobiles, green mobility, and heritage tourism were delimited. As far as the environment is concerned, he supported the idea of coupling features in renewable energy, green financing, desalination, and water recycling.

 King Abdullah II was of the same opinion and thus invited the two sides to intensify business-to-business relationships in order to materialize the potential into welfare. The forum spotlighted the India-Jordan partnership getting closer and deeper as the two countries move towards the regional economic integration ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌goals.
