  • Navitas and Cyient to boost GaN technology adoption in India
  • The collaboration will co-develop GaN products, digital and mixed-signal ICs, system modules, and design platforms
  • The partnership strengthens India’s semiconductor supply chain, creates domestic manufacturing capabilities

Navitas Semiconductor Corp., which specializes in gallium nitride (GaN) and silicon carbide (SiC) power devices, has entered into a long-term collaborative partnership with Cyient Semiconductor in order to promote the use of GaN technology throughout India by providing an entire GaN development and manufacturing ecosystem located solely within India.

The joint effort between both companies will consist of developing products that include GaN devices, digital and mixed-signal integrated circuits (ICs), as well as GaN system modules and platforms to support the design of ICs for key applications within India's high-voltage and high-power markets.

These applications include AI data centres; electric mobility; high-performance computing; energy-grid infrastructure; and industrial electrification – all of which are currently experiencing large amounts of growth within the local market.

In line with the Government of India’s Make in India initiative, the alliance will develop the local semiconductor supply chain while establishing GaN component manufacturing capability domestically.

The GaN technologies that Navitas currently has available will help create new products tailored to meet the unique needs of the Indian market; Cyient Semiconductors will focus on creating a secure, reliable and scalable GaN supply chain within India.

Suman Narayan, Chief Executive Officer of Cyient Semiconductors said that the collaboration represents a pivotal step forward in helping to create a viable semiconductor ecosystem and enhance the availability of GaN technology for Indian OEMs through Cyient's strengths in design, manufacturing and supply chain management, combined with Navitas’ proven experience in GaN.

Chris Allexandre, President and CEO of Navitas said that he expects the adoption and growth rate of GaN technology in India to be higher than the global growth rate and will further enhance India’s position as a leader in the high-performance semiconductor solutions market.

“Together, Navitas and Cyient will power India’s vision of India for India — innovation, by India, for the world”, he added.
