OpenAI, TCS to Build 100MW AI Infra in India Soon Now!

OpenAI, under the leadership of Sam Altman, has established a strategic alliance with the Tata Group during the India AI Impact Summit which serves to enhance India's artificial intelligence development infrastructure.

Both the companies are collaborating on AI infrastructure India, including a 100MW AI project to strengthen artificial intelligence India capabilities through modern data centers India, marking a major AI partnership with Tata Consultancy Services focused on AI expansion and advanced tech infrastructure

OpenAI will utilize Tata's data centre capabilities for their partnership, which will start with 100 megawatts (MW) of Sam Altman, CEO, OpenAI (AI) operational capacity. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) reported that the initial 100MW deployment will have the potential to scale up to 1 gigawatt (GW), positioning India as a major global hub for advanced AI workloads.

 The upcoming data centers will feature design-specific liquid cooling systems, which enable high-density equipment operation and direct connection to primary cloud computing areas.

Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran described the alliance as a deep and transformative collaboration aligned with India’s ambition to become a global AI leader. He explained that the partnership would create advanced AI infrastructure while it would prepare India's young people for employment in an AI-powered economy.

“India is already leading the way in AI adoption, and with its talent, ambition, and strong government support, it is well placed to help shape its future. Through OpenAI for India and our partnership with Tata Group, we’re working together to build the infrastructure, skills, and local partnerships needed to build AI with India, for India, and in India, so that more people across the country can access and benefit from it”, stated Sam Altman, CEO, OpenAI.

The partnership reaches further than just building infrastructure. The Tata Group workforce will receive access to Enterprise ChatGPT which will help them boost their work efficiency and create new ideas. TCS will use OpenAI's Codex technology to improve its software development.

The two companies will create specific industry solutions by combining OpenAI's advanced AI technology with TCS's specialized knowledge. The partnership will use joint marketing activities to assist companies in implementing and expanding their AI systems throughout the world.

The OpenAI Foundation and TCS will join forces to develop social impact programs which will provide AI education and resources to help one million Indian youths enhance their employment prospects.
