Piyush Goyal, who serves as Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, held discussions with Swedish Deputy Prime Minister Ebba Busch to present India as a top international investment hub while they strengthened the bilateral ties established through the India-EU Free Trade Agreement.

Goyal presented the relationship between India's qualified workers and Sweden's research capabilities which he viewed as establishing the two countries as "natural partners" who would collaborate on economic development and technological progress.
In a post on X, he stated, “A productive interaction with Swedish Deputy Prime Minister @BuschEbba today. Highlighted India's rise as a premier global investment destination, backed by a vast market and an investor-friendly FDI ecosystem. We reaffirmed our commitment to strengthening collaboration in green tech, R and D, and advancing engagement under the India-EU FTA framework. India's skilled youth and Sweden's innovation strength make us natural partners for sustainable growth”.
Deputy Prime Minister Busch arrived in New Delhi recently to attend the India AI Impact Summit 2026, which took place at Bharat Mandapam from February 16 to 20.

In a post on X, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) added, "Warm welcome to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Business and Industry @BuschEbba of Sweden, in New Delhi for the India-AI Impact Summit. India-Sweden ties span a broad spectrum of cooperation, including trade, economy, science, innovation, climate action and education among others”.
The summit, which served as the inaugural global artificial intelligence conference held in the Global South brought together decision makers and AI industry experts and academic professionals and innovators and representatives from civil society to explore the revolutionary possibilities of artificial intelligence.
The event brings attention to the need for AI development to match India's national vision which aims to bring welfare and happiness to all people. The event aims to establish India as a leading center for advanced artificial intelligence research through discussions about responsible AI implementation and partnership creation and investment possibilities.
Goyal's activities in Sweden demonstrate his dedication to building partnerships that will drive innovation while bringing in international funds and using artificial intelligence and emerging technologies for sustainable economic advancement.
