The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe) has signed two MoUs with the Government of Karnataka to help the state establish itself as a leader in commercial space activity in India.

The first MoU will help with a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for space technology in Bengaluru to promote research and development and innovation in the space ecosystem. The second will help establish a public-private space manufacturing park with Karnataka's Department of Electronics, IT, Biotech, and Science & Technology for the production of next-generation satellites and launch vehicles, which will help develop the next industrial growth in space and enable a new space manufacturing environment for the State.

These partnerships intend to support Karnataka's emerging NewSpace ecosystem in line with the Indian Space Policy, while advancing regional objectives that are aimed at ultimately meeting national incentives, including innovation, promotion of private sector participation, and development of a complete space value chain.

With the goal to provide regulatory support and infrastructure, it wants to create a globally competitive ecosystem for commercial space businesses in the upper-tier market, It is expected that the partnerships will elevate Karnataka's standing in space in India through talent, advanced manufacturing, and increase in investment and create a significant step toward commercialising new-age civil space activity.
