Tata, Bosch Partner for Semiconductor & Electronics Growth

Tata Electronics, the emerging player in the Indian electronics and semiconductor manufacturing sector has signed a strategic alliance with the world technology major Robert Bosch Gmbh. Recently, the two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in the different spheres of semiconductor technology and electronics manufacturing. Dr Randhir Thakur, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Electronics and Dirk Kress, Executive Vice President of Semiconductor Operations at Bosch formalized the agreement.

Through the agreement, Tata Electronics' forthcoming assembly and test plant in Assam and its foundry project in Gujarat will advance chip packaging and semiconductor manufacturing.  In order to provide solutions that benefit both businesses and support the expanding automotive electronics market in India, both companies also intend to investigate collaborative projects in Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS), namely in the field of vehicle electronics.

Dr Randhir Thakur noted, “This partnership with Bosch strengthens our goal of building a strong, reliable supply chain for critical technology components. Our joint efforts will support the development of a comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem in India and help position the country as a global hub for electronics manufacturing.”

Tata Electronics, a major player in the global electronics manufacturing industry, was established in 2020 as a greenfield project by the Tata Group.  Its competencies include Design Solutions, Semiconductor Assembly & Testing, Foundry Services, and Electronics Manufacturing Services.

The Bosch Group employs around 418,000 people worldwide as of December 31, 2024, and is a major supplier of technology and services.  It made €90.3 billion in sales in 2024.  Mobility, Industrial Technology, Consumer Goods, and Energy and Building Technology are the four main areas in which it operates.  Bosch provides integrated and sustainable solutions by fusing extensive knowledge of software, sensor technologies, and systems integration.
