- New platform launched to make Tamil language accessible; proposed for use in Indian Railways.
The Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that Tamil Nadu will be developed into a national hub for manufacturing Vande Bharat trains and high-power wheels for locomotives and HSR.
He highlighted that because Vande Bharat is a pan-India success story, Tamil Nadu has a very important role in the transformation of passenger rail experiences.
Ashwini Vaishnaw said, "A state-of-the-art wheel manufacturing unit will soon be set up near Chennai, which will play a crucial role in powering India's future rail infrastructure. Tamil Nadu is also fast emerging as a major production centre for Vande Bharat trains, with one of the largest operating fleets in the country today".
Vaishnaw further stated that under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tamil Nadu is being positioned as a big manufacturing and technology centre.
He added, "We're witnessing an electronics revolution here. Manufacturing units for mobile phones, laptops, and servers are being established. Tamil Nadu will soon stand as a key node in India's global manufacturing chain".

The minister lauded the launch of Tamil AI, a generative AI platform intending to make Tamil language and literature accessible to a larger segment of the population, including those who do not know the script.
"This initiative blends ancient heritage with modern innovation. It reflects the Prime Minister's mission to democratise technology, ensuring that no language or culture is left behind," he added.
Founded by BJP State Secretary A Ashvathaman, the platform was described as a courageous step towards linguistic and technological inclusivity.
Ashvathaman stated, "Imagine a future where AI replaces books and computers; when that happens, AI must speak Tamil, too. This platform helps children and non-native speakers learn Tamil and understand its deep literary and cultural heritage. It can even translate ancient Tamil words into contemporary usage".
Vaishnaw urged the Tamil AI developers to consider associating with Indian Railways in the near future to integrate this technology into railway services for Tamil-speaking users. The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries.
