Toray, MAS Join Forces to Strengthen Supply Chain in India

The formation of Toray MAS Apparel India, a joint venture between MAS Holdings and Toray Industries was formalized by signing a MoU in June at the MAS Head Office in Colombo, Sri Lanka by Toray Hong Kong Managing Director, Teruo Funahashi and MASH Holdings Chief Executive Officer, Suren Fernando.

Toray MAS partnership will develop a new manufacturing plant at the new MAS Apparel Park Bhuinpur in Odisha, India. Construction of the Park began in March 2025 with MAS India operations expected to start in early 2026.

Toray MAS deal will cater to the increasing demand for high-quality textile products from established and potential clients in India. The partnership strengthens India’s textile supply chain, with Toray India and MAS India operations collaborating to boost India sustainable manufacturing and enhance supply chain efficiency.

"Toray MAS Apparel India will contribute to local employment and economic growth by manufacturing advanced, top-quality offerings. The company will serve as a garment stronghold in India for Toray and MAS Holdings, reinforcing their partnership by deploying strategies that capitalise on their capabilities", said Toray’s Funahashi.

By combining MAS Holdings’ apparel manufacturing capabilities with advanced material technologies from Toray Industries, the joint venture will develop new products in India while supporting local economic development in Odisha and creating employment opportunities.

Sustainability is a fundamental goal of the facility, which utilizes renewable energy solutions including rooftop solar panels, energy-efficient manufacturing processes and systems, state-of-the-art water and wastewater management, and more.

The design focuses on and promotes universal accessibility and environmentally responsible practices, including solid waste and chemical management, all consistent with the JV's commitment to sustainable and inclusive industrial development.
