UP Govt Unveils Electronics Policy 2025 to Boost Industrial Growth

Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh instructed officials to operationalize the Uttar Pradesh Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy-2025. This policy is intended to position the state to aggressively market itself as a global electronics manufacturer. As previously mentioned this policy will facilitate large investment, enhance production, create significant employment, and support India's aspirations as an "Atmanirbhar Bharat" and "Make in India".

At the meeting to review the status of the government investment commitment to electronics, Mr. Adityanath remarked that the electronics sector is one of India's fastest growing industries. He underlined that India is the second largest mobile manufacturer with Uttar Pradesh accounting for mention nearly 60% of the total production level.

Adityanath stated, "Uttar Pradesh must capitalise on its immense potential in this sector. Over the past eight years, the state has made historic progress in industrial development. Now, it is time to establish Uttar Pradesh’s distinct identity on the global electronics map".

He was briefed by officials attending the meeting that India's electronics production grew from Rs. 1.9 lakh crore in 2014-15 to Rs. 11.3 lakh crore in 2024-25. Mobile production in India increased from Rs. 18,000 crore to Rs. 5.45 lakh crore with the value of exports rising from Rs. 1,500 crore to Rs. 2 lakh crore. Uttar Pradesh electronics hardware exports were nearly Rs. 37,000 crore in 2023-24 establishing the state's role as an upstream manufacturing state in India.

The new policy aims for USD 50 billion of electronics production within five years and aims for nearly 10 lakh direct and indirect employment, consistent with Uttar Pradesh’s goal of attaining a USD 1-trillion economy. The framework will include incentives such as capital investment subsidies, stamp duty and electricity exemptions, interest grant, logistical support, and operational benefits, with a special focus on youth employment generation.

Mr. Adityanath was clear on the need for a concrete action plan to create Uttar Pradesh as a global hub for electronics component manufacturing. The policy is expected to provide foreign investment attraction, reduced import dependence, progressing domestic value addition, foreign exchange savings, and further embedding the state’s industrial ecosystem.
