
Websol Energy, Linton Eye PV Ingot and Wafer Manufacturing

Websol Energy Systems, a solar module manufacturer located in Kolkata, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Linton, one of the world's top manufacturers/designers of Czochralski (CZ) furnaces, to look into the production of photovoltaic ingots and wafers within India.
Both the companies form a solar manufacturing partnership in India to advance PV ingot manufacturing India, solar wafers India, and overall photovoltaic production, strengthening renewable energy India.
The agreement will allow Websol to purchase the necessary equipment for manufacturing ingots & wafers directly from Linton and for Linton to provide Websol with the necessary expertise to successfully implement the new manufacturing technology through training of Websol’s employees. Linton Crystal Technologies is located in Rochester, New York.
Sohan Lal Agarwal, Managing Director, Websol Energy System stated, “By exploring PV ingot and wafer manufacturing capabilities, we aim to reduce our dependence on key raw material imports and enhance the company’s technology base”.

They manufacture and provide both the equipment and the process control system for the production of crystals that are used to create photovoltaic cells.
Currently, Websol is producing both solar cells & modules with the latest mono PERC technology at their Falta Special Economic Zone factory located in West Bengal India, with a production capacity of 1200 MW of solar cells and 550 MW of solar modules.
The collaboration between Linton and Websol will help increase domestic production ability for the photovoltaic manufacturing industry in India and also utilize new technologies and know-how to improve the overall strength of the photovoltaic supply chain in India.
