Adani, Embraer Sign MoU for Aircraft Manufacturing in India
- Adani and Embraer will explore aircraft manufacturing in India under a new MoU
- The partnership covers manufacturing, assembly and localisation of components
- It supports India’s push for domestic aviation manufacturing
The Adani Group established a strategic partnership with Embraer, an aircraft manufacturer from Brazil, to examine their potential for creating aircraft production facilities within India.
The collaboration seeks to develop a regional transport aircraft production facility, which will handle aircraft manufacturing and assembly operations, while increasing the domestic production of aircraft parts and components.
The Adani Group partnership enables the company to extend its airport operations and rapidly growing defence and aerospace business into complete aircraft manufacturing.
The project supports India's goal to enhance its domestic aircraft production capabilities by developing aircraft components, supply chains and aerospace technology systems which exceed basic assembly capabilities.
Adani Group and Embraer established a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to investigate all possible areas of cooperation, which includes aircraft manufacturing, supply chain development, aftersales support, and pilot training programs.
Arjan Meijer, President and Chief Executive of Embraer Commercial Aviation stated, “India is a pivotal market for Embraer, and this partnership combines our aerospace expertise with Adani’s strong industrial capabilities”.

The companies established a financial agreement, which demonstrates their commitment to establish operational capabilities within India.
Embraer stands as the third largest aircraft manufacturer in the world which follows Airbus and Boeing and specializes in regional jets that fly with passenger loads between 70 and 140 passengers.
The E2 aircraft series from Embraer competes against Airbus A220 because both products operate within the market that serves aircraft with fewer than 150 seats which belongs to Airbus and Boeing. Embraer currently builds its commercial passenger planes at its manufacturing facility which exists solely in Brazil.
The company has been seeking to deepen its presence in India and has previously partnered with Mahindra on the C-390 military transport aircraft programme.
The latest announcement follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to Brazil last year during which Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva showed Embraer about his intention to develop business relationships with Indian companies.
The Adani–Embraer agreement establishes a major advancement that will foster closer cooperation between India and Brazil which focuses on aviation and aerospace fields.
