Air India, Singapore Airlines Sign Pact to Deepen Ties
- Air India & Singapore Airlines sign a framework to deepen collaboration, pending regulatory approval
- Enhanced flight schedules, joint itineraries, and more benefits for corporate and loyalty members
- Expansion of codeshare routes, boosting connectivity and global reach
Air India and Singapore Airlines have taken a significant step by signing a commercial cooperation framework agreement that will bring the two airlines closer and facilitate the signing of future joint business agreements, all subject to regulatory approvals.
The deal, which was signed in Mumbai by Campbell Wilson, CEO of Air India, and Goh Choon Phong, CEO of Singapore Airlines, is based on the long-standing alliance between the two airlines that are members of the Star Alliance.
The airlines want to make it easier for the customers to travel between Singapore and India by opening up new routes and making it more comfortable for them to travel by offering conveniences and seamless connections.
The airlines have also planned to improve their services, coordinate their schedules, and allow their customers to book flights covering both airlines in one single ticket.
The alliance might, in addition, open doors for corporate travel and offer more benefits to the members of the Air India's Maharaja Club and Singapore Airlines' KrisFlyer programs, in addition to what already is provided by Star Alliance.
Furthermore, the collaboration may go even farther into new geographical regions and the support of increasing demand for travel and the connectivity via the two airlines' hubs strengthened as a result of this partnership.

At this moment, the two airlines facilitate each other's customers in 61 cities in 20 countries and their partnership was already extended in October 2024 by the addition of 51 more international and domestic routes to their existing network.
As a consequence, both carriers are going to be more reliable in their respective operations and customer relations are going to be improved.
Campbell Wilson, CEO & Managing Director of Air India stated, “Air India remains committed to expanding its global footprint, both by adding new aircraft to our own fleet and by forging stronger commercial partnerships, especially with our fellow Star Alliance member carriers”.
“We are pleased to take our valued, long-term relationship with Singapore Airlines to the next level through this new commercial cooperation understanding, which establishes a clear and structured platform for both airlines to explore and define future areas of closer collaboration. With this measured approach, we aim to lay a strong foundation for sustainable, long-term value creation for our customers and other stakeholders”, he added.
“This agreement between Singapore Airlines and Air India is a natural evolution of our successful partnership, creating genuine value and delivering enhanced benefits to customers”, noted Goh Choon Phong, CEO of Singapore Airlines.
He added, “It is a strategic, win-win collaboration that will strengthen connectivity between Singapore and India, support the growth of air travel and tourism in both countries, and deepen their long-standing business and people-to-people ties”.
