BEML, DMRC sign MoU to Pursue Metro Projects Globally

Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) are working together. They have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on metro rail projects in India and international markets. The partnership seeks to leverage BEML's manufacturing strength in rolling stock with DMRC's expertise in the operation and project execution to produce world-class metro solutions.

Both the organizations will, through the agreement, jointly look for opportunities in areas like rolling stock manufacturing, modernizing metro systems, developing new corridors, and exporting metro technology to other countries. The MoU also includes aspects such as personnel training, technology sharing, and joint bidding for metro projects on a large scale.

BEML, one of the leading public sector undertakings under the Ministry of Defence, has a proven record of manufacturing metro coaches, locomotives, and mining equipment. DMRC, recognized as one of the most efficient metro operators across the world, offers extensive experience in project planning, execution, and system integration.

This collaboration will enhance India's capability and credibility in the urban mass transit systems sector and give a boost to the government's emphasis on green urban transportation. Besides, it is in line with the 'Make in India' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' programs because it encourages local production and the export possibilities of the metro sector which is growing rapidly.

Meanwhile, India is rapidly developing its metro network and the metro lines under construction or planned in the different cities will reach 1,000 km.
