BPCL, RBML Partner to Boost CNG Sales in India

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has teamed with Reliance BP Mobility Limited (RBML) in a collaborative effort to enhance City Gas Distribution (CGD) and the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) business in India.

This partnership is in keeping with the government's initiatives to promote natural gas and support natural gas expansion for India's energy transition and sustainability vision. The collaboration is to boost CNG sales and strengthen India’s gas-based economy, supporting the India energy sector through clean fuel initiatives and natural gas promotion.

The agreement was executed between Rouf Khan, Chief General Manager – Projects & Marketing (Gas) at BPCL, and Sanjay Pandita, Head – Gaseous Fuels at RBML. Senior executives from BPCL and RBML were present during the ceremony, Subhankar Sen, Director – Marketing, BPCL and Akshay Wadhwa, CEO, RBML, as well as other distinguished guests.

"It is crucial that the end customer receives our molecule, aligning with the broader vision of promoting a gas-based economy. This partnership will enhance our progress towards this national objective", stated Rahul Tandon, Business Head – Gas, BPCL.

"RBML outlets attract higher footfall, which will drive increased CNG sales in the area, thereby contributing to the overall goals of India’s gas-based economy", added Akshay Wadhwa of RBML.

The strategic partnership is committed to increasing access to cleaner and affordable fuel options which help the Government of India meet its objective of increasing the share of natural gas in its national energy mix from 6% to 15% by 2030.

As part of BPCL’s Project Aspire initiative, this partnership is a significant step towards a sustainable energy landscape in the country. BPCL and RBML will utilize their combined strength in existing infrastructure capability, technical know-how, and operational knowledge to scale the adoption of cleaner fuels and facilitate sustainable mobility in India and to support the transition to greener and more energy efficient future.
