Haryana Seeks Japan Tie-Up to Boost Auto Tech Sector

The government of Haryana is entering into a strategic partnership with Japan's Fukuoka Prefecture to drive the state's automotive manufacturing, robotics, and high-tech sectors. As part of his official visit to Japan, Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh met Fukuoka's Deputy Governor to discuss the expansion of mutual industrial collaborations. With the highest number of Japanese firms in India (almost 400), Haryana showcased its capabilities in transportation, R&D-based manufacturing, and innovation.

During the meetings, Singh suggested to companies based in Fukuoka that they set up factories producing (for) electric vehicles, electronics, semiconductors, biotechnology, and technical textiles in Haryana and said that the world-class industrial infrastructure, skilled workforce, and pro-business policies that simplify the operation in the state. Discussions were conducted to encourage joint ventures in automotive assembly, robotics development, and emerging technologies that brought mutual growth.

This scheme is a consequence of a recent high-level Haryana delegation, headed by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, that traveled to Tokyo and Osaka to market investment opportunities. Fukuoka, the home of Japanese car manufacturers and the center for cutting-edge technology for robotics, was very receptive to Haryanas growth of the ecosystem.

Singh was also present at an investors' roadshow alongside executives from electronics, biotech, semiconductors, automotive, and textiles. He invited the Deputy Governor and corporate leaders to participate in the 'Happening Haryana Global Investors' Summit' in 2026, emphasizing it as a forum for strengthening bilateral ties, tech transfers, and investment deals. The resolution strengthens Haryana's resolve to take advantage of Japan's technological expertise in areas such as clean transport and advanced manufacturing to create economic linkages between the two regions.
