DPIIT Teams Up With Ather Energy to Boost EV Manufacturing

Ather Energy, one of the largest manufacturers of electric two-wheelers, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to promote clean mobility and advanced manufacturing (innovation) in India.

The MoU reflects a partnership under the Build in Bharat initiative led by the Startup Policy Forum (SPF) of over 50 innovators driving to improve and strengthen the manufacturing ecosystem in India doing business in the production.

 The MoU also establishes a partnership for supporting deep-tech startup companies with direct mentoring, assistance for infrastructure in the EV value chain and joint innovation programs including the Bharat Startup Grand Challenge.

It continues with the outline of talent and skilling development opportunities, participation in major startup events such as Startup Mahakumbh and organized field visits to share practice and learning.

The MoU signed in front of Sanjiv Singh, Joint Secretary DPIIT, and Tarun Mehta, Co-founder of Ather Energy & CEO, takes a large step towards creating a more conducive ecosystem for EV manufacturing, and advanced manufacturing startups which is in line with India's vision of sustainability and self-reliance in industry.

Sanjiv Singh, Joint Secretary, DPIIT said, "The electric mobility sector in India is entering a transformative phase. Through this partnership with Ather Energy, we aim to catalyse the development of an enabling environment where startups can contribute meaningfully to EV manufacturing, battery innovation, and clean energy solutions".

With policy support and stronger industry participation, this initiative can help founders tackle core technology challenges and scale high-quality products from India", stated Tarun Mehta, Co-Founder & CEO of Ather Energy.
