
Embraer, Hindalco Partner for Aerospace Aluminium India

Embraer, a Brazilian aerospace producer, established a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Hindalco Industries Limited to investigate the possibility of manufacturing aerospace-grade aluminium in India.

The agreement establishes a collaborative research project that will evaluate whether it is possible to produce aluminium raw materials in the region which conform to the strict requirements of aerospace standards. The initiative which Embraer launched in India serves its industrial objectives while supporting the government's Make in India initiative.
Roberto Chaves, Executive Vice President of Global Procurement and Supply Chain at Embraer, emphasized that the partnership is part of the company’s broader effort to develop a robust domestic supplier base.
He stated, “This joint action reinforces our focus on identifying local partners that can become our suppliers and, in doing so, accelerate the development of the Indian industrial base. The initiative enhances Embraer’s engagement in advancing the aerospace ecosystem in India, creating long term value across the entire supply chain”.

The company now assesses India's industrial capabilities through its partnership with local agencies to study multiple production fields, which include aerostructure assembly, machining, metal forming, composites, wiring systems, hardware and software development.
Embraer operates three business divisions in India, which serve as an important market for the company. The company operates 47 aircraft in India, which consists of five VIP jets used by the Indian government, three EMB-145 AEW "Netra" aircraft for the Indian Air Force and the rest of the fleet, which provides services to commercial and executive aviation customers.
Embraer and Mahindra Aerospace will build a maintenance repair, and overhaul facility in India to service the C-390 Millennium medium transport aircraft, which will proceed after the Indian Air Force selects it under the Medium Transport Aircraft programme.
The partnership demonstrates Embraer's dedication to developing India's aerospace industry through technology transfer, domestic production and industrial cooperation.
