Finland President Stubb Begins India Visit
- Alexander Stubb is on a four-day India visit to boost trade, investment, and technology ties
- He will attend the Raisina Dialogue as chief guest and meet India’s top leadership
- The visit follows Finnish PM Petteri Orpo’s recent India trip for the AI Impact Summit
Recently, Alexander Stubb made a four-day state visit to India to strengthen the collaboration between the states in the areas of trade, investment, and critical technologies. The trip highlights increased levels of partnership between Helsinki and New Delhi in the strategic and economic sectors.
The Alexander Stubb India visit marks a significant step in Finland India relations, strengthening Finland India trade cooperation, advancing the India Finland innovation partnership, deepening India Finland bilateral ties, and reinforcing Nordic India diplomacy.
President Stubb is going to have a broad-based discussion with Narendra Modi during his visit. It is anticipated that the discussions will result in the signing of a number of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) that will be aimed at enhancing cooperation in major areas. The changing crisis in West Asia will also be expected to be a leading topic in their deliberations, as a global concern.
Before leaving, President Stubb said that he was optimistic that the trip would enhance the Finland-India relationships, especially in the areas of trade, as well as, commercial alliances. He will also be the main guest of the first session of the Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi. On arrival, he received a warm reception from Minister of State in External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh.

In a social media post, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated, “India and Finland share a warm and friendly relationship rooted in shared democratic values. President Stubb’s visit will impart further energy to India-Finland relations”.
The Finnish leader is also escorted by a top-level delegation that consists of ministers, senior officials and business representatives. He was visiting soon after a visit by Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo to India during the AI Impact Summit.
Besides a meeting with Prime Minister Modi, President Stubb will visit President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan. He will arrive in Mumbai on March 6 and meet business leaders and end the visit on March 7.
